At VMworld Europe this year, we were lucky to have many 11:11 Systems customers at the event to share their experiences in leveraging secure cloud services from our VMware-powered global cloud. One such customer was M J Mapp, a leading UK Property and Asset Management Company. Their story was so good that VMware recorded a video of Theo Loakeim, IT Infrastructure Manager at M J Mapp, talking about the benefits they’ve realized protecting their business with Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service through the VMware-based 11:11 Cloud in the UK.
Facing challenges common to many IT organizations with legacy infrastructure in an on-premises environment, Theo and his team undertook an IT transformation project with cloud adoption as the main priority. They started on their cloud journey three years ago by migrating legacy internal IT infrastructure to a private cloud. They then moved on to a key part of this IT transformation – implementing a modern and reliable DR strategy.
Being a VMware house and using multiple VMware solutions, including vCenter, NSX, VSAN, Horizon, and vRealize, Theo was keen to leverage a VMware-based cloud provider. The 11:11 DRaaS solution enables seamless migration of their virtual machines to the 11:11 Cloud making onboarding and ongoing management of the DRaaS solution very straight forward.
Theo also speaks about the benefits that the visibility and control of the 11:11 Cloud Console delivers. With DR being such an important aspect of their business, the fact that they can do failover testing and failover and failback from the console without needing to call support is a huge benefit. And, most importantly, they’ve reduced their Recovery Point Objective (RPO) down from four hours to 30 seconds, which delivers significantly improved business continuity protection for M J Mapp and their customers. With a “bullet-proof” DR plan as Theo describes it, they’ve already taken a major step towards achieving GDPR compliance. Emboldened by the success of their cloud adoption so far, M J Mapp is planning to leverage more VMware technologies and move production workloads to the public cloud.
On behalf of VMware and 11:11 Systems, thank you, Theo for sharing your IT transformation story!
