Too expensive. Too complex. Too time consuming. It won’t happen to us. All excuses as to why companies delay disaster recovery initiatives and leave themselves open to huge losses.
In 2016, these excuses are no longer valid. That’s because, when done right, Disaster Recovery as a Service gives companies the infrastructure, tools, and support needed to eliminate risky bets. And more companies are taking advantage of it.
According to the study, “By 2018, the number of organizations using disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) will exceed the number of organizations using traditional, syndicated recovery services. By 2018, 20 percent of very large enterprises (that is, organizations with 5,000 or more employees) will be failing over the operation of one or more production applications to either DRaaS, IaaS or cloud enabled managed hosting.”
The report also highlights the criteria IT teams must consider when choosing a DRaaS vendor. It’s a good guide for IT teams who want a head start in planning and tips on what to ask during the vetting process.
As part of the new study, Gartner evaluated 14 service providers based on eight critical capabilities: Physical/Virtual System Recovery, Testing and Declaration, Service Manageability, Pricing Policy, Resiliency, Security and Compliance, Value-Added Services, and Customer Experience.
“Today, companies of all sizes must be able to reliably and affordably protect themselves against the unexpected – whether it be a cyberattack, human error or natural disaster,” said Brian Ussher, president, iland. “Addressing that need head on, we have integrated our proven DRaaS natively into iland’s cloud services, introduced unmatched compliance and security capabilities, offer simple pricing models and ensure expert support is just a phone call away. We are proud to have our efforts recognized by Gartner, once again, and feel this new research will help IT leaders understand critical capabilities, evaluate providers according to unique business needs and avoid common pitfalls.”
With a decade of experience in delivering disaster recovery solutions, 11:11 System’s DRaaS enables IT workloads to be replicated from virtual or physical environments to a global high-availability cloud infrastructure. Unlike other providers, 11:11 goes beyond simple backup to ensure all key workloads are protected and the disaster recovery process is tuned to customers’ business priorities as well as security and compliance needs.
