After Conagra Brands acquired Pinnacle Foods Inc. in late 2018, it faced many difficult decisions in integrating the two companies. One area of concern was how to best integrate the IT systems and infrastructure of the two companies, which included making critical decisions on which partners and vendors to use.
When Conagra’s IT department started consolidating and moving workloads from Pinnacle to its own data centers, they received a surprise phone call. It was from Pinnacle’s Disaster Recovery (DR) partner, 11:11 Systems, calling to alert them that their workloads were on the move and that a potential cyber event was in progress. This caught the attention of John Murphy, sr. director of Information Technology at Conagra Brands.
Up until that point, the company’s DR strategy was to move forward with Conagra’s existing DR solution, which meant migrating Pinnacle’s workloads away from 11:11. But after Murphy witnessed first-hand the high level of attention and scrutiny 11:11 afforded its customers, he decided to switch course and assess using 11:11 instead.
The fact that 11:11 had been watching over the company’s production systems and workloads — even despite its contract not being renewed — was eye-opening for Murphy and his team. The assurance that Conagra’s critical data would be monitored and protected no matter what was all Murphy needed to change his mind and reverse the course of the company’s overall DR strategy. After doing its proper due diligence, Conagra decided to team up with 11:11 Systems for all its DR needs.
